Hey there! I’m Simon Cornelius P. Umacob, a seasoned tech enthusiast with deep expertise in designing and building entire systems from scratch. My experience with Linux and Unix spans everything from traditional manual setups to cloud-based architecture in AWS and GCP. I even modified the bootloader of a BSD-based OS to display our logo once. Over my career, I’ve written a ton of software using various languages like Python, Node.js, PHP, and more. When I’m not building systems, I enjoy traveling (and working remotely while doing so), playing video games, and exploring robotics. Lately, I’ve also re-ignited a passion for embedded systems.

Artificial Intelligence is a thing now, and LLMs can now implement a lot of the things that I do, but trusting AI output without real engineering expertise is risky. That is how you end up with critical flaws, like exposing security credentials right on the frontend. AI is a great productivity multiplier, but you need a true expert at the wheel to know what to build, what not to build, and how to guide the tools effectively.
